Promotion
  • (i) In Class 6,7 and 8 promotion will be withheld if a student fails to secure a 40% aggregate in the unit tests and terminal examinations in English or two or more of the following subject – combinations:

    (a) Hindi
    (b) Mathematics
    (c) History/Civics/Geography
    (d) Science, (Physics/Chemistry/Biology)

    The following are the rules for the exams:

    1. No Re-examination: If a student fails to appear for the unit test, half-yearly, or annual exams, there will be no opportunity for re-examination. It is the student's responsibility to ensure attendance for all scheduled exams.

    2. Average Marks: The average marks obtained by the student in all exams (unit tests, half-yearly exams, and annual exams) during the academic year will be considered for promotion to the next grade or level.

    3. Minimum Passing Criteria: There is a minimum passing criterion for each exam. Students must achieve at least the specified passing marks in each individual exam to be eligible for promotion.

    4. Attendance Requirement: Regular attendance in classes is crucial for proper learning and preparation for exams. Students are expected to maintain a certain level of attendance (minimum of 75% attendance), and there may be consequences for insufficient attendance, such as being barred from taking exams.

    5. Exam Schedule: The school or educational institution will provide a clear schedule for all exams well in advance, allowing students to prepare accordingly. It is the responsibility of the student to be aware of the exam dates and make appropriate arrangements.

    6. Examination Rules: During the exams, students must adhere to the rules and regulations set by the school or examination board. Any form of malpractice or cheating may result in severe consequences, including disqualification from the exam.

    7. Final Decision: The final decision regarding promotion or retention of a student in the same grade lies with the school or educational institution, based on the student's overall performance and adherence to the exam rules.

    Internal Examination

    (i) Class IX Examination: For selected subjects Question Papers for the Class IX Final Examination will be provided by the Council. The Council will also set the timetable for the conduct of Class IX Final Examination in these selected subjects.

    (ii) It will be the responsibility of the Head of the School to ensure promotion from Class IX to Class X on the basis of the cumulative achievement level of the student throughout the academic year in the subjects he/she has been registered for. For promotions, a candidate is required to have obtained at least 33% marks in five subjects (severally) including English on the cumulative average and a minimum attendance of 75% of the working days. No other criteria will be used for promotion from Class IX to Class X. Promotion from Class IX to Class X on Trial basis, on Re-examination or Awarding of Grace marks is not permissible and will not be accepted by the Council. Transfer Certificate should not be issued with ‘Promoted to Class X’ if the student hasnot met the required promotioncriteria.
    It will be the responsibility of the Head of the school to ensure promotion from Class XI to Class XII will be done on the basis of the cumulative achievement level of the student throughout the academic year in the subjects he/she has been registered for. For promotions, a candidate is required to have obtained at least 35% marks in a minimum of the four subjects which must include English, on the cumulative average and a minimum attendance of 75% of the working days. No other criteria will be used for promotion from Class XI to Class XII. Promotions from Class XI to XII on trial basis, re-examination or awarding of grace marks is not permissible and will not be accepted by the Council. Transfer Certificate should not be issued with ‘Promoted to Class XII’ if the candidate has not met the required promotion criteria

  • Students who fail to secure promotion in two consecutive years must be withdrawn from the College.
  • Students who have failed to secure promotion only once but whose academic performance is far below a minimal standard of achievement, as determined by the principal, shall be withdrawn from the College if, in his opinion.
    (i) Repeating the same class would be of little or no academic benefit to them and
    (ii) Their prospects of success at the end of a second year in the same class would be unlikely.
    (iii) They are overage for the class.

  • A student who has failed to secure promotion only once and, despite the evidence to the contrary of the official age recorded on his/her behalf, is far too big and far too mature for the class in which he has failed, or for the new and oncoming class which. In normal circumstances, he/she would join, shall not be allowed to repeat the class in which he/she has failed and must be withdrawn from the College.
  • Any student who is found to resort to unfair means during any examination or test, or on whose person or desk any unlawful material is discovered, shall be severely disciplined even to the extent of being excluded from membership of the student – body of the College.
  • Should parents wish to withdraw a student who has failed to secure promotion a request from them that the phrase Promotion Granted be recorded on his/her Transfer Certificate shall not be entertained.
