Description:
The St. Joseph's College Model United Nations (SJC MUN 3.0), held on August 10-11, 2024, was a resounding success. The event commenced with an opening ceremony featuring the Chief Guest Ambassador CM Bhandari, a distinguished diplomat, who delivered an inspiring keynote address. The conference attracted participants from various schools, including All Saints College, St. Mary’s Convent, Longview Public School, Dikshant International Haldwani, and St. Joseph’s College, as well as individual delegates.
The simulation included six committees: UNEA (United Nations Environment Assembly), AIPPM (All India Political Parties Meet), UNHRC (United Nations Human Rights Council), UNGA-DISEC (United Nations General Assembly - Disarmament and International Security Committee), UNCSW (United Nations Commission on the Status of Women), and IP (International Press). Delegates engaged in rigorous debates on critical global issues such as environmental sustainability, human rights, and disarmament. The General Assembly session provided a platform for delegates to present and discuss imperative topics and represent their teams as a school, facilitating a comprehensive dialogue.
St. Mary’s Convent was awarded Best School Delegation for its exceptional performance. The event also included social gatherings and networking opportunities, enriching the overall experience. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, highlighting the Secretariat’s effective organization and the conference’s impact on developing diplomatic and public speaking skills among all delegates.
